March 11, 2009 Akron Wins 5th Straight Mid-American Conference Championship Larisa Arcip won the mile and Danielle Sidell earned All-MAC recognition by finishing second in the 800m to help lead Akron to its fifth-consecutive indoor conference title. The Zips scored 126 points for a comfortable 25-point advantage over runner-up Kent State. Akron was the only school to score in every middle distance and distance event. Arcip, who has won the 1500 twice outdoors, won her first mile title after placing second the preceding two years. "We were a little bit flat the first day, but I was very pleased with the way we competed on the final day," said coach Scott Jones. "Larisa and Danielle did a great job getting us started by placing first and sixth in the mile and then they showed great competitive spirit by doubling back so well in the 800m. Kim Lorentz battled well in the 5000m and Carol Eckerly rebounded from a disappointing 5000 race to run a really tough 3km." MAC Indoor Championship Results ***
