Zips Open Season this Saturday at Tommy Evans Invitational

The Akron cross country teams begins the 2008 season this Saturday hosting the 40th-annual Tommy Evans Invitational at Firestone Metropark. The Zips will face off against Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo, as well as Cleveland State and Youngstown State. This year's race will also include Mount Union College and John Carroll University. Akron won last year's race sweeping the first eight places, led by individual champion Larisa Arcip. Also running for the Zips will be 2006 winner Colleen Moran, MAC Outdoor 5ooom champion Kim Lorentz and MAC steeplechase champion Cassie Schenck. The women's race starts at 12:15 pm. There is no admission charge.
