4/7/00 Zips in High Gear 
at Texas Relays

Today the action involving Zip athletes 
really picks up in Texas. The men's 4x100m 
relay kicks off the day at 9:30am CDT. 
LeShaunte Edwards, Chad Bullett, and 
LaTrese Taylor will see action in the trials of the 
100m. Later this evening, Michelle Rizzo will 
compete in the women's 5000m. Christi Smith 
hopes to follow up on her heptathlon success
 in the women's long jump. Also, Mary Varga will 
throw the javelin and high jump, Karen Beasley 
will join Mary in the high jump, and Jeanine 
Thomas and Keelie Harvey will compete in

Smith places second at Texas Relays
with an NCAA automatic mark. Her
score breaks her Akron school record 
and is the best ever by a MAC 
competitor.
