2004 Indoor Season Preview

EXCITEMENT, EXHILARATION, ADRENALINE, CLOUDS OF CHALK AND ECHOING SCREAMS fill the air as the University of Akron Zip Throwers prepare for the 2004 Track and Field Season. The 2003 season was filled with many highlights as the Zip Throwers established themselves as a throwing power in the Mid-American Conference. This season the team is relentless in their determination to dominate the conference.

Senior Dustin Shaffer looks to add the 2004 Weight throw title to his resume as he leads the Akron Throwers this indoor season. Newcommer Zach Helm will look to score big for the Zips in the weight throw as well. In the shot-put returning MAC outdoor finalist Walter Levert will be joined by Randall Hafner as both look to stand high up on the podium this season.

The Lady Zips return a strong trio of performers in Lindsay Feiten, Jenna Strouse, and Amy Lavalley. Lindsay and Jenna will asert themselves as competitive shot-putters in the MAC the season. Amy Lavalley broke the school record in the 20# weight throw in her first collegiate meet and will look to improve upon her mark thoughout the season and climb high on the podium as the MAC meet.
