It was a solid race for us.  I was concerned about CMU and WMU and we beat them handily.  On this day we
would have been hard pressed to beat the top three schools.  The one bit of disappointment is that we were
capable of beating Kent and did not take advantage of that opportunity.  We will have to wait two weeks to do
that.  Congratulations to Lisa McCaulley for an outstanding race.

My disappointment grows as I think about our race.  Although I believe everyone was trying to do their best, we did
not race with intellegence and discipline.  We cannot continue to repeat the mistakes we have made with pace
judgement and race execution.  To succeed we must get tougher.  We must train tougher and race tougher. Part of
racing tougher requires being disciplined.  Our top three guys went out faster than planned and for Todd and Chris
the pace was too fast.  Our 4-7 guys were never with the Toledo guys.  We never had the chance to race them. Both
errors reflect a lack of discipline and a lack of trust in our abilities.  Of course if, we can critically review our preparation
for this season and this race and find ways to improve ourselves in the future we will have accomplished something
positive.  For my part, I know we need to work on building our confidence to race.  We must upgrade our training if
we wish to be competitive in the MAC. Congratulations to David Howard for being the top freshman in the race.
