My initial comments for both groups are the same.  I was pleased with your behavior and attitude for this meet.
This was a very productive meet for us.  I thought we did a great job handling the new facets of overnight travel and it was very useful for all of us
to see the course we will be competing on at the MAC championships.  There were specific goals I had for our team that were intrinsic to us. Despite
a tough week of training I thought that we met those goals --  competing well, coming together as a team, etc.  We faced a very talented team that was
running on its home course and they soundly beat us.  However, I'm confident that we learned what we must do to beat them when we
race there on November 2.  The other measuring stick we have is how we improved relative to Buffalo.  The average of our top 5 at
Tommy Evans was 19:01 and at Miami it was 18:29, a 32" difference.  Buffalo went from 19:34 to 19:04, a 30" difference.
As we continue to train and race we will continue to get faster.  In 1999 our top 5 improved by 34" from the Pre-MAC meet to the
MAC meet.  In 2000 our improvement was 48".  We don't need to do anything special, we need to keep doing the great job
you have been doing -- work hard, stay healthy, compete.

This was a very productive meet for us.  I thought we did a great job handling the new facets of overnight travel and it was very useful for all of us
to see the course we will be competing on at the MAC championships.  There were specific goals I had for our team that were intrinsic to us. Despite
a tough week of training I thought that we met those goals --  competing well, learning to run an 8km race, coming together as a team, etc.  I also wanted
to use this meet to measure our progress versus Buffalo.  We have gained some ground on them.  Scoring the Tommy Evans meet as a dual meet we
lost to them 18-41.  At Miami we improved to 21-34.  More importantly, they only put five runners in before our fifth, while at Tommy Evans that
number was eight.  Also, we can make some educated guesses about where we stand versus other MAC schools.  Ball State ran there on 9/7.  Their
team average time was 26:52 on that day.  Miami's men ran 30" on 9/21 than on 9/7.  If we grant BSU that same level of improvement they are still
averaging 4" per man slower than us.  At the present time we can beat BGSU, Toledo, Marshall, Ohio, and BSU if we continue to work hard, stay
healthy, and learn how to compete.  It is also the time to determine how we can train and compete with schools like Buffalo and Kent.
