| Comments | |||||||||||
| The goals I had coming into the meet were: | |||||||||||
| Grade | |||||||||||
| 1. Develop pre-race routine. | A | ||||||||||
| 2. Even split times (develop good pace judgement, no dramatic slowdowns). | B+/B | ||||||||||
| 3. Compete! | A | ||||||||||
| 4. Cooldown well and prepare ourselves for next week's workouts and race. | A | ||||||||||
| I am really happy with this group and the effort you have been putting in. If you are not happy with your performances | |||||||||||
| I ask you to be patient. It takes time to adjust to new training and new surroundings. I would like to note Dave Howard's | |||||||||||
| and Morgan Sulzener's performances. They both did a great job and had our best average times. Also, Adam Bray | |||||||||||
| improved by 22 seconds. The men's team is significantly better than our team's the last two years. The women | |||||||||||
| did a great job and the average of the top five, 9:34, is our second best ever, trailing our 1999 MAC champion team. | |||||||||||
| With Ada averaging 9:02 for her workout our top 6 averaged 9:28! | |||||||||||
| Where does this leave us? | |||||||||||
| For the next week or two you will remain in the "Valley of Fatigue" before your current training translates into faster times. | |||||||||||
| As you continue to train well and to adapt to this level of training your fitness level will rise. Hang in there! | |||||||||||
| Remember, we have done virtually no running at race pace and we ran this race without backing down from our training. | |||||||||||
| In fact, our workouts have been tougher this year than last year. Your spirit and enthusiasm and positive frame of mind | |||||||||||
| will translate into great things down the road. | |||||||||||
