I was pleased with the physical effort, however, I was not pleased with our execution
of the race plan.  If we learn from this experience the race will prove to have been
beneficial to our progress.  We did a good job (much better than Notre Dame) at
establishing our position.  Unfortunately we forgot to relax and be efficient for the next
mile.  By continuing to run hard we set ourselves to be run down by the other teams.
It is easier to be the chaser than the chasee.  I must take some of the blame for our
inability to sustain our early tempo better.  We've been training very well (Tuesday's
workout covered 5.5 miles of quality running) and the All Ohio course demands
fresh legs -- especially if you go out hard.  The good news is that all the hard work
will pay off when it counts: at the MAC meet, the regional meet, and, if you dare to
dream, at the NCAA meet.  Congratulations to Brandi on running faster than at ND.
What if we… all improved from ND like Brandi. Then we score 43 points.

Comments: Besides Chris, we just did not get out in good position in the first mile. If you add up our
score at the first mile, we score almost 600 points. In any other meet you can make up for a poor first mile
over the second and third mile. But at All Ohio there are just too many bodies to go around and that
is a lot of wasted energy. Pykare ran one heck of a race after the first mile. But he used up so much energy
to get up to 53rd place at 3 miles. He had to surge and weave his way up the field. Scott Mate made the
same mistakes but also ran a terrific race after the mile mark. Andrew and Nate ran solid
races. Nate was aggressive and that will pay off over the next 3 weeks. Howard will be back soon and
Adam bray is in great shape, so things are going well. Just may not have been real obvious by our
22nd place on Friday. Let's keep our noses to the grindstone.
Last side note: Kyle Bowman was 24th place. Chris has beaten him both times we previously faced Kent.
Pykare has finished within seconds of him both times. What does that tell us? We were (are) better
than 51st and 52nd place.
