| The goals I had coming into the meet included: | Team Scores | ||||||||

| 2. Win the meet | B | Ashland | 60 | ||||||
| 3. Five runners in top 10 | C | Robert Morris | 120 | ||||||
| 4. Work with teammates | B+ | ||||||||
| 5. Compete | C+ | ||||||||
| It is disappointing to lose. It is even more disappointing to not learn from the loss. Our early season meets are supposed | |||||||||
| to be learning experiences and if we learn from this meet we will look back on it more favorably. I will leave it to each of you | |||||||||
| to honestly, yet critically, evaluate your preparation for and performance in this meet. I further hope this will inspire us to bring | |||||||||
| more enthusiasm and energy to our practices. In the meantime, we should take some consolation in our knowledge that most | |||||||||
| of us are fundamentally fit and we will only get better as the season progresses. | |||||||||
| We should also be excited to recognize the positive accomplishments: Brandi's second-place finish and her 13-second | |||||||||
| "improvement" from last year's Tommy Evans race; Becki running better than last year; and Rachel, Gina, and Emily running | |||||||||
| very well in their first Tommy Evans Invitational (and for GD and EF their first collegiate cross country races). | |||||||||
