Comments
Not our best race, but we should learn a lot from this meet and be prepared for our our first
championship race.  We had many good performances: Beata raced last year's 10th-place
finisher at the NCAA Cross Country Championships to the wire, Brandi ran another strong
race, Morgan put together her best race of the year, as did Becki and Gina.  Ada got another
race under her belt, which is exactly what she needs (regardless of the outcome).  Of course
we are judged by how we fare as a team and we could have done better in that regard, but
the team competition that really matters is still ahead of us.  Let me quickly point out
what we could have done as a team and where we can improve.  At All Ohio we had a 91"
spread from 1-5.  At PSU it was 2:28.  If Beata races the same and we have a 100" spread
(accounting for the longer race) our 4th and 5th runners would be at worst 61st and 62nd,
for a team score of 5, 26, 31, 61, 62 = 185, or 4th place.  Also note that Emily Cicero of YSU
was 29th at All Ohio, one place behind Ada, and would have occupied the 62nd scoring
position.  Also, our top 3 finished very strongly.  At the 2-mile mark we were in the following
places: BR - 17th, BS - 39th, MS 49th, so we gained 37 places in the last half of the race.
The MAC meet will be an easier meet to race.  We'll be able to run free and see our
competition.  Prepare to win.
