Dear Dr Jones & The Zips Cross Country Team,
It was a great pleasure meeting the ZIPS CC team on Saturday. One of
the really nice aspects of being an older runner is that I get a chance
to meet a lot of wonderful people through running. Meeting all of you
reminded me of all the things that are right about collegiate athletics:
a common pursuit of something greater than the individual, an ability
to handle the ups and downs, and of course the pursuit of knowledge,
of the world, of others and of yourself. I have known Dr Jones for many
years, and after Saturday I am glad to see that his team is a reflection
of him and I think he is a reflection of the team. I got a very good
vibe from all of you and I want you all to know that I greatly appreciate
what you are doing for your University, your team and yourself. Dr Jones,
thanks for giving me the opportunity to meet your team. Best wishes
in the coming year, I hope our paths cross again soon,
