The Akron women's track team placed second and the men fourth at the All Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio State. The women captured six events in the two-day competition and the men won two events.

Sulzener Wins All Ohio 10,000m

Sulzener captured the All Ohio 10,000m title Friday night and set a new
meet and Jesse Owens Stadium record in the process. Leading from the gun,
Sulzener ran 36:43.05. She covered the last 3200m in 11:20.5. Sulzener
is now a two-time All Ohio champion. In February she captured the indoor
3000m championship.
Day one also brought good news to the Zips in the throwing events. Dustin Shaffer qualified for the NCAA regional meet by throwing the hammer 190' 3". That mark earned him a fourth-place finish. Justin Southall placed third in the javelin (183' 8"). Ashley Kaufman was the runner-up in the women's javelin with a 144' 6" throw.
