Breaks All-Time MAC Record in the Pole Vault. Rudzinska Breaks MAC Indoor
Meet Record in the 800m. Smialek Wins High Jump.
Freshman John Russell
won the pole vault at the MAC Indoor Championships with a gutsy third-attempt
clearance at 17' 6 ½"
after passing at 17' 2 ¾". That jump is the best ever by
a MAC athlete. His performance was his third school record in the last
three weeks.
 Beata Rudzinska's 2:06.27 led a 1-2 Akron
sweep of the women's 800m and broke the meet record by over two seconds
in the process. Jennie Castle ran 2:11.62 to finish second.
Tomasz Smialek defended
his indoor title in the high jump with a season's best mark of 7' ½".
