Rudzinska & Russell Qualify for NCAA Championships at Mid-East Regional

Russell and Beata Rudzinska, All-Americans at this year's indoor nationals,
will have a chance for a repeat performance after automatically qualifying
for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Mid-East Regional
Meet. Russell, competing in the pole vault, placed second with a 17' 3"
jump and Rudzinska finished fifth in the 800 meters by running 2:04.42.
Also scoring for Akron were Kira Sims in the women's pole vault (12' 10
¼", 8th), Mary Varga in the women's high jump (5' 7 ¼",
8th), and Tomasz Smialek in the men's high jump (6' 9 ¾", 6th).
Sims (PV), Varga (heptathlon), and Adriana Zalucka (10,000m) will likely
be selected to participate when the NCAA announces the championship field
Monday evening.
