Akron Trio Heading to Nationals
Freshman
John Russell, sophomore Beata Rudzinska, and junior Kira Sims will be
competing in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday and
Saturday in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Russell and Sims qualified in pole
vault and Rudzinska in the 800m. 
Russell broke the
MAC all-time record with his qualifying mark of 17' 6.5" set at the
MAC championships. He enters the meet as the 13th-ranked vaulter. Sims
vaulted 13' 7.25" and goes in as the number 8 seed. Rudzinska, like
Russell and Sims a MAC champion, ran 2:05.97 at the Alex
Wilson Invitational last Saturday to automatically qualify for the
meet. She goes in with the 12th-fastest time.
