Rudzinska, running in the special invitational women's 800m race at the
Drake Relays, ran 2:04.71. That mark, which is a lifetime personal best,
as well as a new Akron school
record, currently ranks her fourth among all NCAA Division I runners.
Rudzinska's was just one of many outstanding performances turned in by
the Zips this weekend. Adriana Zalucka also set a new school record, placing
third in the 10,000m at the Penn Relays in 34:30.25. That time provisionally
qualifies her for the NCAA outdoor track championships. Competing in La
Jolla, CA, Dustin Shaffer threw the discus 164' 4" and the hammer
190' 0". Liz Mangen also threw the discus well with a best toss 155'
7.5". At the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational Deanna Caldwell won the
100m with a 12.00 clocking and John Russell led a 1-2-3 Akron sweep of
the men's pole vault with a leap of 17' 0".
