Corbitt Smashes School Record in Shot Put

Greg Corbitt has gone from hot to torrid. One week after breaking his school record in the shot put, Corbitt obliterated that mark by over 3 feet with a winning put of 58' 10 ¼" at the Penn State National Open. His effort is also an NCAA provisional qualifying performance. Corbitt joins Kira Sims (pole vault) and Beata Rudzinska (800m) on the NCAA provisional list. Sims and Rudzinska also enjoyed successful days in Happy Valley. Sims won the pole vault with jump of 13' 5" and had a season's best long jump (19' 1 ¼"). Rudzinska ran 2:08.02 to place 4th (3rd collegian) in the 800m. In the same race, teammate Jennie Castle ran a PR, 2:12.89, and was the 4th collegiate finisher. Freshman pole vaulter continued to keep well. His 16' 2 ¾" vault was good for fourth place.
