Entry Process

Entries will be done online at www.blkshirt.net 

 

Entry Deadline

Entries must be received by Wednesday, February 9, at noon.  A performance list will be posted on our website by Thursday morning.  If you feel a mark is inaccurate, please contact us by email.  Scratches must be reported to Scott Jones by 10 am Friday, Feb 11.  Heat sheets and a revised time schedule (if needed) will be posted on our website by Friday evening.

Entry Limit

NCAA I & II:               Each team is allowed 3 individual entries per event and 1 relay team.

NCAA III & NAIA:     Any individual or relay meeting the qualifying standards listed below.

 

Entry Marks

Entry marks must be from a performance achieved from the current track & field season.  Additionally, marks must be converted from 55m/55mH to 60m/60mH and from a flat 200 to an oversized track in the 200m, 400m 800m Mile, and 4 x 400m relay.  Please refer to NCAA Division I

Team Scoring

Individual and relay events will be scored:           10 – 8 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1

There will be an overall team score and also separate team scoring for Division I schools and Division II schools.

 

Entry Fee

$125.00 per men’s team; $125 per women’s team

$15.00 per individual

$30.00 per relay

 

Coaches Meeting

A coaches meeting will take place at 11:45 am in the Vince and Nancy DiGirolamo Team Meeting Room, located on the track level at the Northeast corner of the facility.  Please let Coach Mitchell know if you have any agenda items.  We will select the 2006 All-Ohio Championship meet site at this meeting.

 

Awards

Team trophies will be awarded to the overall winning men’s team and the overall winning women’s team.  Individual awards (watch) will be given to each event winner and relay team by the coach of winning athlete immediately following the conclusion of the event.

 

Implement Weigh-in will begin at 11:30 am and will conclude at 1 pm.

 

Running Event Check In 

Please have your athletes check in for running events at the clerking table (near the 400m/mile starting area) at least 15 minutes before their event.

 

Track event sections will run from slow to fast.

 

Coach/Athlete Restrooms & Locker Rooms are located in the field house lobby.  The use of these facilities is restricted to athletes and coaches.  Additional restroom facilities are located in the Student Recreation Center behind the bleachers that are available to athletes and coaches, as well as the general public.

 

Results will be projected on the video screen near the finish line and posted in the field house lobby and behind the bleachers as they become available.  Complete results will be available after the meet and will be on our websites (www.uakron.edu/track and www.gozips.com).

 

Team Camps   Please ask your athletes to refrain from sitting in the bleachers and other restricted areas. We will have more information concerning where team camps will be located later.

 

Warm-up Area

A large section of the infield is available for warm-ups.  Athlete’s general warm-ups will not be permitted on the track during races on the oval.

 

Coaching Areas 

Coaches will have access to the entire facility.  The first row of bleachers has been reserved for coaches and horizontal jump competitors.

 

Medical Facilities

Complete training room facilities are available on site.

The new University of Akron Athletics Field house contains a 6 lane track on the curve; 8 on the straight 300m Mondo track encompassing a 120 yard Astroplay turf field.  There are 2 long jump pits, 2 pole-vault pits, 2 high jump pits and 2 throwing circles.  Athletes will only be permitted to wear ¼” spikes!
 

Concession Stand

There will be a concession stand open at the top of the bleacher seating.

Ticket prices for spectators will be $5.00

Driving Directions
From Route 8 South:
Exit Buchtel Avenue. Go straight through traffic light. Turn right on Carroll Street at the next traffic light. Turn left on Spicer Street. Make a right on Vine Street. Follow Vine Street to its end and make a right on S. Union Street. The Athletics Field House will be on your right. Parking is available in lot 10 directly behind the building.

From 77 North, Route 8 North, 76 West:
Take 77 north/76West to Route 8 North. Take the first exit (Carrol Street/Buchtel). Turn left at the stop light. The second traffic light is the Carrol Street/Spicer Street Intersection. Turn left on
Spicer Street. Make a right on Vine Street. Follow Vine Street to its end and make a right on S. Union Street. The Athletics Field House will be on your right. Parking is available in lot 10 directly behind the building.

From 76 East/77 South:
Follow 76 East/77 South to the Route 8 North/Cuyahoga Falls exit. Take the first exit (Carrol Street/Buchtel). Turn left at the stop light. The second traffic light is the Carrol Street/Spicer Street Intersection. Turn left on Spicer Street. Make a right on Vine Street. Follow Vine Street to its end and make a right on S. Union Street. The Athletics Field House will be on your right. Parking is available in lot 10 directly behind the building.

Parking Notice
On Saturday, February 12 The University of Akron will be hosting, in addition to the All Ohio Championships, a high school swim meet and a women's basketball game. Please note the following parking restrictions and additions.

  • Team Bus Parking will be in Lot 9 off of Vine Street, across the street (south) from the Fieldhouse.
  • Additional spectator parking is available in the parking deck at the corner of Carroll and Spicer Streets.
