where the favorites going into the meet and they lived up to their advance
billing. Both Kira Sims in the women's pole vault and Greg Corbitt in
the men's weight throw dominated their events during the indoor season
and each capped their season with a MAC championship. Sims winning mark
in the pole vault was 13' 3 ½" and came on a clutch third-attempt
clearance.
Corbitt
dominated the 35-pound weight throw. All of his legal marks would have
been sufficient for the win. His best mark, 65' 5 ½", came
in the second round. Teammate Dustin Shaffer was second in the competition
with a throw of 61' 2 ¾".
The Zips also received scoring marks from Liz Mangen in the 20-pound weight throw (54' 4"), which is also a new school record, Chanel Harris placed 8th in the long jump (18' 2 ¼"), as did Morgan Sulzener in the 5000m (17:33.72), and the women's distance medley relay team (12:13.62).
