Michigan's Rebecca Walter and Mike McGuire Named Great Lakes Region Athlete and Coach of the Year

Rebecca Walter, the Great Lakes Region individual champion and her coach, Mike McGuire were named Great Lakes Region Athlete and Coach of the Year in voting by the region's coaches. Walter, a junior, helped lead Michigan to team titles at the Great Lakes Regional and Big Ten Championships. The Wolverines are currently ranked fourth in the country.

McGuire receives regional Coach of the Year recognition for the fourth time in his 13-year tenure in Ann Arbor. Previously he had guided the Michigan women to regional titles in 1993, 1994, and 1995. His 1994 placed second in the NCAA Championships. Last year's team finished fourth.
