Zalucka Named Cross
Country Academic All American.
Women's Team Earns
"All-Academic Cross Country Team with Distinction" Designation
Adriana
Zalucka's stellar accomplishments in the fall were not confined to cross
country. On the basis of her academic and athletic success she was named
to the 2002-2003 Academic All America team by the Women's Intercollegiate
Cross Country Coaches Association. To be named an Academic All American
an individual had to achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and to
place in the top 15 at the regional meet. Zalucka, a sophomore economics
major, has a 3.80 GPA and placed 8th in the Great Lakes Regional meet
and 49th at the NCAA Championships.
Zalucka
was not the only member of the cross country team to perform well in the
classroom. The women's team was named an All Academic Cross Country Team
for the fourth consecutive year. The team's 3.49 GPA was tops among Akron's
fall sports teams and ranked 22nd among all women's cross country programs.
