Castle Breaks Stadium Record in 800m. Zalucka Wins Two Events.

Jennie Castle won the women's 800m race in a quadrangular meet with Ashland, Duquesne, and Pittsburgh. In doing so she ran a new personal best, 2:10.50, and broke the stadium record in the process. The previous record was 2:11.06 and was set by Miami's Carrie Alexander at the 1998 MAC Championships. Placing third in 2:14.63, a three-second improvement on her personal best, was Emily Freudenrich. Akron women also won the 1,500m (Adriana Zalucka, 4:37.1h), the 3000m steeplechase (Becki Michael, 11:38.8h), and the 3,000m (Adriana Zalucka, 9:57.86). For the men, Adam Bray and Jake Magier went 2-3 in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:12.4h and 10:16.6h), Chris Perun placed third in the 3000m (8:56.30), David Pykare was fourth in the 1,500m (4:08.04), and Jeff Swartzel was fifth in the 800m (1:58.81). Both the men's team and the women's team placed first in the meet.
