Evans Invitational
Sophomore
Adriana Zalucka won the individual title and helped lead the Akron women
to the team championship. It is the third time in the last four years
Akron has won the Tommy Evans Invitational. Zalucka ran the 5km course
in 18:43. She joins Bobbie Hardbarger (2000, 2001) and Michelle Rizzo
(1998, 1999) as recent Akron individual champions. Freshmen Morgan Sulzener
(18:57) and Lisa McCaulley (also 18:57) ran personal best times to place
5th and 6th overall. Erin Frye and Brandi Schoeppner rounded out the Zips
top 5. Akron scored 32 points to defeat Kent State (42), Ohio State (66),
and Buffalo (78).
In
the men's race David Howard placed 1oth overall. Freshmen made up four
of Akron's top five runners. Finishing second on the team was Chris Perun.
Sophomore Todd Moyers was the third Zip finisher and he was followed by
David Pykare and Tim Myers. Akron, with 97 points, was defeated by Ohio
State (41), Kent State (43), and Buffalo (45).
