Training Sites - Towpath in Akron

In the summer of 2000 a stretch of the Towpath was completed which brought it within about a mile of the University of Akron campus. Now miles of crushed limestone trails that run alongside the Little Cuyahoga and Cuyahoga Rivers are easily accessible from campus, as well as the dirt trails in Sand Run Metro Park and Cascade Valley Metro Park. The scenery running from campus provides glimpses into Akron's past -- the former mills and silos of Quaker Oats, the canal locks, the railroad tracks, and the Mustill Store (pictured below).
