Akron -- A Great Place to Run

Visitors to the University of Akron are often surprised by the abundance of great training sites at our disposal. This area has capitalized on the features of its past, the canals and railroads, as well as its pockets of pristine wilderness to create a network of great places to run.

Towpath Trail
In the shadow of downtown Akron, a 1.0M run from campus, is the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. The towpath runs north from Akron more than 30 miles to Cleveland, with many branches connecting to local Metroparks and the Buckeye Trail.

CVNP
Situated between Akron and Cleveland is the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Within its boundaries are many running trails, including the Towpath and Buckeye Trail. The scenery is varied: forest, lake, open meadow, and river.

MetroParks
Summit County MetroParks maintains several locations suitable for cross country meets and many more that are ideal for training on grass and trails.
