Zips Run Well at Lake Marie Relays

Led by sophomore Morgan Sulzener the Akron women fielded the two fastest relay teams in the fifth annual Lake Marie Relays. Sulzener, who had the fastest average of the women runners (8:30 for her three circuits of the 1.5M loop), teamed with Brandi Schoeppner(9:26) to turn in the second fastest overall time, 53:49. The duo of Jennie Castle (8:37) and Becki Michael (9:14) combined for a 53:33 clocking.

David Pykare and Chris Perun paced the men's team, running 63:02 (each of the men ran the loop four times). They were followed by David Howard and Adam Bray in 63:47. Howard, Pykare, and Perun all averaged 7:50 for their legs.

This Saturday, September 6, the Zips return to Howe Meadow for the Tommy Evans Invitational. The men's 4M race is scheduled to start at 11:30 am. The women's 5km race will follow at 12:15 pm. Howe Meadow is located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
