Zips Perform Well at PSU and KSU

A number of great performances were turned in by Akron distance runners at the Penn State National Indoor meet and at Kent State's Doug Raymond Invitational. The young men's distance runners showed they are an emerging force. David Howard ran 8:37.21 in the 3,000m at Penn State while Chris Perun clocked 8:47.18 over the same distance at Kent State. Earlier in the week David Pykare ran a PR in the mile, 4:18.69, and at the Doug Raymond meet he dropped down to run the 800m in 1:57.17.

Leading the way for the women was Brandi Schoeppner in the 5,000m at Penn State. Her 17:47.71 time was good for fourth in her section and tenth overall. Rachel Zubricky won her section of the 800m in a season's best time of 2:16.61
