Women Third, Men 9th at MAC Championships

The Akron women placed third at the MAC Championships, a tantalizing 9 points out of first place. The Zips tallied 82 points just short of the 73 points of champion Ball State and the 78 points of runner-up Toledo. Akron had two All-MAC performers, Adriana Zalucka finished third (17:36) and Morgan Sulzener eighth (17:48). Also scoring for Akron were Jennie Castle (16th, 18:09), Brandi Schoeppner (18th, 18:14), and Rachel Zubricky (37th, 18:47).

The men improved one place over 2002 with a 9th-place performance. The men's top finisher was David Howard (32nd in the team scoring, 25:42). He was followed by Chris Perun (43rd, 26:00), David Pykare (46th, 26:06), Scott Mate (56th, 26:29), and Adam Bray (69th, 27:47).
