Men Claim Tommy Evans Title. Women Finish 2nd.
The University of Akron men, with a score of 27 points won the Tommy Evans Invitational over Ashland (40), Buffalo (56), and Robert Morris (116). It was the men's first victory in their traditional home meet since 1999. The Zips placed five runners in the top 10, led by Chris Perun (3rd), and followed by Scott Mate (4th), David Pykare (5th), David Howard (6th), and Adam Bray (10th).
The women's team placed second, 8 points behind Buffalo. Brandi Schoeppner was the first Akron finisher and second overall. She was followed by Morgan Sulzener (3rd) , Jennie Castle (6th), Rachel Zubricky (12th), and Becki Michael (14th).
