Constitution of The Akron Animation Association
(Tri-A)
at The University of Akron
ARTICLE I - NAME
The official name of this organization
shall be: The Akron Animation Association (Tri-A).
ARTICLE II - PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization
shall be to educate students on various aspects of animation. We shall
strive to give members the proper environment in which to exchange ideas
on the creation and production of video animation. The club's focus
will be upon animation from around the world and the differences between
American views and those held in other countries.
ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP

Any registered student of the University of Akron, in good standing with
the institution, is eligible for membership.

Membership will consist of the following types:

Voting: Voting members must be currently enrolled UA students in good
standing.

Membership will be revoked by the organization under the following conditions:

Failure to pay dues as stated in ARTICLE VIII.
-
Failure to abide by the organization's purpose, as stated in this constitution.
-
Student fails to remain in good standing with the University.
ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS

Officer positions in this organization include:
a. President.
b. Vice-President
c. Secretary/Treasurer

The powers and duties of the officer shall be:
-
The President shall oversee the day to day running of the club. The
President will organize club meetings and correspondences with other
clubs/organizations.

The Vice-President will aid the President and represent the club if the President
is not available.

The Secretary will keep track of the financial records and expenses of the
club. The Secretary will also be in charge of purchases made by the
club
-
If the Executive Committee finds need a new officer position may be
created. This position will be filled by the process stated in Article
IV, Section 4. A vote will be held each April to determine if this
position is still needed. A 25% vote of the active membership is required
to maintain the position.

Election of officers:
-
To qualify to be an officer, a student must:
-
be a voting member of the club
-
have been a member for at least one month.
-
Nomination of officers will be from the floor.
-
The prescribed election/selection process to be used will be:
-
voting for each office following nominations.
-
The candidate(s) receiving a majority affirmative vote will be declared the
winner and will take office on the first day of June.
-
The terms of office shall be from June 1 until May 31.
-
Should vacancies occur before the completion of a term of office, the vacancy
will be filled in the following manner:
-
The remaining officers will choose a temporary replacement who will serve
for the remainder of the term.

Impeachment charges can be brought against any officer for the following
reasons:
-
For failure to uphold the organization's constitution.
-
For failure to maintain good standing with the University.
-
Impeachment proceedings may be enacted upon a majority vote of active membership.
-
If impeachment proceedings are voted to occur, the following procedure will
be followed:
-
The officer in question will be notified of the charges in writing.
-
A special meeting shall be set up to discuss the charges, within which all
parties are allowed to respond.
-
If a decision is made to proceed, a vote should be taken by the
membership. A vote of 75% of the active membership must be reached
for an officer to be impeached.
-
A new officer will be selected as stated in Article IV, Section 4.
ARTICLE V - ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The Executive Committee shall consist of the following persons: President,
Vice President, Secretary, Faculty Advisor, and any additional Officers.

The Executive Committee's duties shall be to:
-
Make decisions concerning organizational policy.
-
Settle disputes between members.
-
Establish other committees as needed by the organization.
-
Other committees of the organization and their duties shall be:
-
Activities Committee. The activities committee will be
in charge of planning events held by the club. The committee will also
be in charge of advertising for the club.
-
Other committees may be created as seen fit by the Executive Committee. A
majority vote of the Executive Committee shall be required to institute the
new committee.
ARTICLE VI - FACULTY ADVISOR

In order to qualify to be the Faculty Advisor, the individual must be a full
time faculty or staff member at The University of Akron.

The Faculty Advisor will be selected by the Executive Committee.
-
The term of office for the Faculty Advisor will be from June 1 until May
31.

If a full time faculty or staff member is not found, a part time faculty
or staff member may be instated until a full time faculty or staff member
can be found.
ARTICLE VII - RULES OR ORGANIZATIONAL PROCEDURE

Attendance policy for members will be:
-
Must either attend a meeting every 2 months _or_
-
Participate in On-line discussions.
-
Organizational meetings will be held:
-
At least once a month, at whatever time the Executive Committe finds convienent.
-
In order to conduct business, a quorum will consist of: 50% + 1 of the active
Voting members.
-
In the event of conflict concerning proper rules of procedure, Robert's Rules
of Order will serve as the recognized
authority.
ARTICLE VIII - FINANCE

Dues for membership to this organization shall be: an amount determined by
the Executive Committee during the spring semester.
-
Other sources of organizational funding, besides University funding will
be: through fund-raising events and donations made by members.
-
The Akron Animation Association (Tri-A) will manage its own finances, but
in accordance with the rules and regulations prescribed by The University
of Akron.
ARTICLE IX - AMENDMENTS

All amendments to this constitution must be made by the following process:
-
Any proposed amendment must be presented in writing to the membership;
-
Discussion should occur at a full meeting;
-
A vote for acceptance should occur at a following meeting allowing people
time to think about the changes;
-
The amendment shall become part of this constitution upon a majority vote
of the active membership.
ARTICLE X - NONDISCRIMINATION CLAUSE
The Akron Animation Association (Tri-A) shall
not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national origin, ancestry,
gender, age, handicap, veteran status, or sexual orientation in the selection
of its members or in its programs unless federal or state laws allow for
such exceptions.
ARTICLE XI - STUDENT DEVELOPMENT CLAUSE
The Akron Animation Association (Tri-A) shall
maintain a current registration form including a list of officers, their
addresses, the name of Faculty Advisor, and the most recently amended
constitution with the Student Development office.
