| In celebration of the release of Wheels of Fortune: The Story of Rubber in Akron, local attorney David Lieberth produced a theatrical panorama of the years when Akron reigned as Rubber Capital of the World. Now available on two videocassettes, this presentation brings to life such famous figures of the rubber industry as Harvey Firestone, F. A. Seiberling, and World War II's Rosie the Riveter, and spotlights the industry's history with stories told by people important to this era, such as noted inventor Waldo Semon. In addition, ordinary Akron citizens share their memories of what it was like to work and live here during the heyday of the rubber factories, and scientists demonstrate how the city has recovered from the departure of the tire industry to become a world-renowned center of polymer research. | |
