Information
The University of Akron Press invites proposals for full-length books in its Series on Ohio History and Culture. This series brings to its readers vivid stories of Ohio's past and present, written for a general audience but supported by serious scholarship. From riverboats in Cincinnati to the rubber factories of Akron, from the glacial formation of the landscape to the brawny beginnings of professional football, these books cover a variety of topics concerning the Buckeye State.

Preparing a Prospectus
A prospectus is a concise summary of your work and a clear statement of its potential value to readers. At a minimum, it should describe:
  • The objectives of your work
  • The kinds of information you have used to achieve your goals
  • The differences between your manuscript and books on similar or related subjects
  • The significance of your research and conclusions
  • Your intended audience and/or the kinds of readers who would be interested in your work
  • Any special features that would give it unusual appeal.

The length of the prospectus will depend on your topic and research, but you should not exceed four typewritten pages. If available, it is helpful to include a table of contents, introduction, and no more than two or three representative chapters from the manuscript, even if they are not yet in final form. Please do not submit manuscripts with in-text citation; endnotes are preferred. Please also include a professional vita with the prospectus. Please, no proposals via email.

Submissions
Inquiries and proposals for the Series on Ohio History and Culture can be presented to:
