FAQ
What is Archival Services?
The
University of Akron Libraries are the essential information service supporting the University's mission of teaching, research, outreach, and
service. We foster intellectual
inquisitiveness and promote equitable access to information, services, and facilities that lead to effective teaching,
study, reflection, and learning.
The mission of Archival Services, as a division of The University of Akron Libraries, is to serve as a primary information source with regard to materials having lasting historical, evidential, or other research interest within the overarching mission of University Libraries.
The Archives is a place where primary source material is organized, stored, and preserved. These materials are then provided for use to the public. Archival Services contains materials that record events pertaining to The University of Akron, and serves as an administrative body serving the needs of University offices. The Archives also holds material about the history of the greater Akron region.
