Psychology Archives Cataloging
Procedures
Duplicates
- Check slip inside book for specific instructions.
- Call up the record in ZipLINK.
- Add a 793 0 note to the bib. record (see slip for specific wording).
- Either create an item yourself using the Archives template, or put it aside for the students to do. Note that the 793 note should be placed in the item record as a note.
NOTE: Psychology Archives only wants 2 copies to be in the textbook collection. Return other copies to Psychology Archives uncataloged.
Non-Duplicates
- Retrieve the record in OCLC.
- Check call number. Note whether it has previous editions and that the call numbers match.
- Catalog the book and update (no need to produce cards). There is a constant data record created that you can use (acd textbook var), but check the slip to make sure the correct 793 note is inserted.
- Transfer the record and proceed using the same steps as above.
Note: Do not write in the books. They will have acid-free slips typed by the students.
