Overview
The UA Libraries Catalog has close to 2,000 electronic books represented. Most of them are shared through OhioLINK. This means that the cataloging is provided through OhioLINK as well and are a part of NetLibrary. Email is sent out through the Database Management and Standards Committee (DMSC) providing a list of OCLC numbers and save file numbers. Once notification has been given that there are records in the save file, follow the steps below:
- Open up OCLC using the OH1 authorization provided by OhioLINK.
- Create an 099 call number of Electronic Book. Example:
- 099 Electronic a Book
- The rest of the record should be fine, but check the 856 field to see if it actually links to the right record.
- Insert the 949 field. Make sure the location says the following:
- 949 *recs=b;ins=cat;ov=o;bn=bierc,sci,law,wayne,ol,arch;b3=g;
- The bn portion specifies the locations to be used in the bibliographic record. A location of multi will be generated.
- The b3=g ensures that when the record is displayed in the OhioLINK Central Catalog, the message that will appear to patrons is "OhioLINK Resource."
NOTE: For more information on 949 transfer commands, see OCLC to INNOPAC Transfer Commands. - Export the record.

Special Considerations
When a book is received and there is a record in INNOPAC for the online version (from OhioLINK), treat the book separately. Catalog it as usual and copy the link from the electronic record (field 856) into the print record. Add a 530 note stating that there is online access. Word it as follows:
530 Online version also available.
Example: E-business or out of business
