Multiple Locations Added in OCLC
Multiple locations can be set when downloading from OCLC in the 949 field by separating the locations by comma. Example: loc=bierc,wayne,sci
Multiple Locations Added in MILCAT
To record multiple locations in MILCAT:
- Open the bibliographic record in EDIT mode
- Double-click on whatever is in the LOCATION box in the fixed field. This opens a separate window so that you can edit or add additional locations.
- To add a location, click the ADD LOCATION button and type the location code into the new line that appears. Repeat as needed until all of the appropriate locations are there.
- When you have added all of the locations you need, click OK to close the window and add the locations.
- The term "multi" will appear in the fixed field LOCATION.
- A LOCATIONS field will appear underneath the MARC LEADER field in the bibliographic record, displaying all of the locations codes for the record.

Different Classification Numbers in Different Locations
If the other locations have different call numbers than Bierce, move the call numbers into that location's item records. This includes the textual call number "LAW PERIODICAL." Bierce Library call numbers should be in the bibliographic record if possible. This applies to any format such as electronic journals and videos.

Items: Call number is the same--do nothing
Example: Ireland's holy wars - Bibliographic Location: multi (bierc, wayne)
Items: Call numbers are different, leave Curriculum Center call number in the bibliographic record, and put the LC call number in the Wayne item record
Example: You read to me, I'll read to you : very short stories to read together - Science/Archives
- Bibliographic Location: multi (sci, arch)
Items: Call number is the same--do nothing
Example: Spectroscopy and dynamics of methanol - Bierce/Law
- Bibliographic Location: multi (bierc, law)
Items: LC Call number is in bib. record, the textual call number "U.S. REPORT" is in the law items
Example: United States Supreme Court reports
