Dr. Durbin is responsible for the coordination of collection development and collection management for the University Libraries (Bierce Library and Science Library). He also helps to coordinate library Special Collections and exhibits, and is the chief link to related library projects, such as those with the Akron Art Museum and the Corporate Services Center. As such, he consolidates collecting activities under the libraries' Collection Development Policies. He is responsible for collection development in the areas of Dance, Theater, and Arts Administration, as well as Conflict Management, Political Science, and Public Administration and Urban Studies. Faculty and students are encouraged to make suggestions or to visit for assistance with collection questions. Faculty are encouraged to participate in the library's Approval Plan. He also is responsible for the library’s teaching effort in its Information Literacy Program.
