Bierce Library has thirty-two computer workstations designated for the addressing the research needs of the university community. These workstations provide Internet access to the UA Libraries Catalog, OhioLINK Central Catalog, licensed research databases, local CD-ROM databases, and the World Wide Web. The workstations are located on the first floor of Bierce Library in the Reference area.
Use and Liability
- All users must be registered. Automatic registration is granted to UA facutly, staff and students. Community borrowers must register at the Circulation Desk. More information about the Community Borrowing Program is available here.
- All UA students, faculty and staff must have a valid UAnet ID and password to log onto the workstations.
- Workstations are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- All users of library workstations are required to abide by The University of Akron Interim Policy on Access and Acceptable Use of University Computer and Informational Resources.

Printing and Saving Files
- All library print jobs cost $.07 per page.
- Bierce library print jobs may be retrieved at any of the print release stations located on the first floor of Bierce Library or in Bierce Room 361.
- Science library print jobs may be retrieved at either of the two print release stations across from the Science Reference Desk.
- A Zip Card or Courtesy Print/Copy card is required to pay for library print jobs. Funds can be added to your card in the Bierce Coffee Shop, the machines on the ground floor of Bierce Library, and in the Copier Room in the Science Library. In addition, you can add funds to your Zip Card online.
- Value Transfer Station (VTS) machines are located on the 1st floor near the Reference Desk and on the ground floor near the photocopiers. They are cash (bills) only.
- Files may be e-mailed, downloaded to a floppy disk or Zip disk, or saved to your ZipSpace.
