Your library PIN is the password that you designate to view your library record online, place local hold requests, and access OhioLINK databases from home.
Your barcode is the number that was assigned to you when you enrolled @ UA. It is also referred to on campus as your university ID #, student ID # or Empl ID #. To view your library record online, place local hold requests, and access OhioLINK resources from home, you will need to provide your barcode as well as your library PIN.
How to set your PIN:
- Go to http://library.uakron.edu/patroninfo
- Enter your name, your barcode (university ID #), and a new PIN of your choosing. Your PIN can contain numbers and/or letters and must be between 4 and 16 characters long. You PIN cannot contain common trivial patterns such as a character that is repeated three or more times (examples: aaaa, ababa, bbbb) or a set of up to four characters is that is repeated two or more times (examples: abab, abcabc, abcdabcd). Once you have completed the required information click the submit button. You will be prompted to re-enter your PIN twice for verification.
Forgot your PIN?
- To re-set your PIN, stop by the Circulation Desk at any UA library location, call the Bierce Library Circulation Desk @ (330) 972-5355, or send a message to library-pin@uakron.edu. For identity verification purposes, be sure to include your student ID # or send your request from your UA e-mail address.
Where to find your Barcode:
Your barcode is located on the back of your ZipCard or library borrower’s card. For UA faculty, staff, and students, your barcode is either your university ID # by itself (xxxxxxx) or in combination with enough zeros to make a 15 digit number (00000000xxxxxxx). For community borrowers, the barcode is the entire 15 digit number on the back of your white borrower’s card (210029xxxxxxxxx).
- If you do not know your barcode (university ID #) and/or do not have a Zipcard, please contact the Zipcard Office @ (330) 972-5637 for more information.
