Student's Guide to the Information Literacy Web Tutorial

Introduction


The goal of the University Libraries Information Literacy Web Tutorial is to give you the skills necessary to survive in the "Information Age." A good grasp of these skills will help you to achieve success at The University of Akron, as well as in many other areas of life. The Tutorial consists of 6 lessons:

The tutorial can be accessed from your home computer or from computers located in the University Libraries or elsewhere on campus. The tutorial is only accessible to students and instructors in courses that have registered to use it. Follow the instructions below to access the Information Literacy Web Tutorial.

How to Access the University Libraries Information Literacy Web Tutorial


  1. Connect to the WebCT login page at http://webct.uakron.edu
  2. Click on Log on to myWebCT.
  3. Your WebCT ID and password are the same as your UANet ID and password. Enter these in the spaces provided. (If you do not have a UANet ID and password, or are experiencing problems with an existing UANet ID and password, please contact the Technology Learning Support Center in Bierce Library Room 69 or at 330-972-6888.)
  4. Click on the link to the University Libraries Information Literacy Web Tutorial.
  5. Read the Welcome page for the Information Literacy Web Tutorial. This page explains the purpose of the Tutorial, as well as how to navigate through it. On average, students require between 1 and 2 hours to complete the Tutorial.
  6. When you have finished the Tutorial, including satisfactorily completing the 6 quizzes, your scores will be recorded and shared with your course instructor. You will also have the opportunity to print out a copy of your "Certificate of Completion" for future reference or use.
