Scope and Purpose:
Marketing is concerned with exchange - the process by which individuals or organizations provide or receive anything of value. Located primarily in the broad subject classes of commerce and business, this concern appears in professional selling and sales management, advertising and promotions management, distribution and business logistics, marketing information systems, marketing research, pricing, purchasing, consumer behavior and applied psychology. Acquisition at the advanced study level is required for these subjects. Materials that are the primary concern of the department of Marketing are also used by the other departments in the College of Business Administration and the departments of Economics, Psychology, Public Administration and Urban Studies, Geography and Planning, Business Technology, Communication, Family and Consumer Sciences, and the School of Law.
Curriculum:
Two undergraduate degrees are offered by the Department of Marketing--the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Marketing with options in Marketing Management and Sales Management, and the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/E-Marketing Advertising. The masters of business administration has a marketing concentration. A variety of courses in such diverse areas as consumer behavior, logistics, retail marketing research, product planning, promotional campaigns, forecasting methodology, and global sales management make up these concentrations and degree tracks. The college offers certificates in Entreprenuership, Health Care Selling, Global Selling, Professional Selling, and Retail Marketing.

The focus of the various marketing options is on the United States.

Only English language materials are acquired.

The focus of the collection is on current developments.
Publication Types:
Scholarly and professional works, research reports, research data, and handbooks are collected.
Formats:
Print formats comprise ninety percent of the collection. Videotapes and computer software make up the balance.
Remote Sources:
When required, use is made of other academic library collections through OhioLINK and traditional interlibrary loan.
Exclusions:
Legal texts and periodicals are collected by the School of Law library. Theoretical economics is collected under the policy for the department of Economics.
