Policies:
Exams:
Make-up tests will be given only if the student has a valid reason
for missing the test, and if the student notifies the instructor
as soon as possible, preferably before the test. If a student
misses a test and does not have a valid excuse, the student will
receive a zero for that test.
Exams will consist of 4 to 8 problems. Exams may also consist
of essay, multiple choice, true/false, matching, and fill-in-the-blank
questions.
Homework:
Homework assignments will be given at the end of every class period
and will be due one week after it has been assigned. Late homework
will not be accepted. Homework should be neat
and only the front of the paper should be used.
Project:
The project will be the analysis and construction of model rockets. These rockets
will be constructed using items that can be found around the house. The goal is to build these rockets for no cost
(except for the purchase of the engine). This project will begin the first week of the semester and will end with the flight
of these rockets in the last two weeks. These projects must be the original work of each student except where specified.
Each student will be required to submit a report that shows the analysis that was performed, any design tools that
were developed (spreadsheets, computer programs), the actual rocket design(s), experimental procedures that were developed
to verify the design calculations, results of the experiments and how they compare to the design calculations, performance
calculations, comparison of actual flight data to the calculated performance, complete drawings of each part used to construct
the rocket, a parts list, a step by step procedure for the construction of the rocket, and whatever else is necessary for a
complete project report.
Student Code of Conduct:
Dynamics (4600:203) adheres to the Student Code of Conduct, and students are responsible for their
behavior in class. Also, plagiarism or any form of academic dishonesty may be grounds for dismissal from the
class.
