Take Home Final Essay Examination
Students have a choice of final examinations - this take home exam,
due tuesday of finals week, -or a standard multiple-choice exam to be completed
at the regularly scheduled final exam time. Instructions for this exam:
Each essay question should be completed in paragraph form. Answer all parts
of each question. You may wish to refer back to earlier chapters for additional
support for your answer. Each question deserves a three page minimum (standard,
double spaced, 1" margins with 12 point type).
Chapter 11 - The online notes for this chapter refer to a model of Normal and Abnormal Stress that may occur Inside and Outside the Family. Define each of the four types of stress discussed in the model and give three examples of each type of stress (do not use the general examples listed online - be specific instead). With this model in mind, illustrate Hill's ABC->X model of Family Crisis (use the abnormal stress examples only). Finally explain how simplifiication can serve to ease the negative effects of all four types of stress.
Chapter 12 - Online notes for chapter five there was the discussion of the model below, intended to illustrate the planned and unplanned concequences of certain decisions.
| Manifest Function | Latent Function | ||
| Positive Function | Intended Positive | Unintended Positive | |
| Negative Function | Intended Negative | Unintended Negative |
Chapter 13- Use the Financial Management Model to explain the steps a young couple need to go through to establish credit and get a home loan. Be careful to include all aspects of what a bank might want to know about the couple. Also include conditions outside the couple that make a home loan more difficult (economic conditions).
Chapter 14-Why do most students find the concepts taught in Famiy Life
Management boring and uninspiring. In your answer, take time to consider
why so many students failed to come to class regularly (about 1/2 the class
toward the end of the semester). Barring any artificial devices, such as
mandatory roll taking, can you think of any way to induce students to want
to come to class. (If you did come regularly, you can pontificate).
Finally, consider the unintended functions of using the internet for the
delivery of course materials .
