Photograph Gallery 1997-2012

August 13, 2012

The Ziyaret Tepe Digital Archive comprises over 80,000 images taken since 1997. These include photographs of every complete artifact and many fragmentary ones, and of most excavated contexts. As part of our daily field recording system, each excavator takes beginning and end of day photographs of the trenches. The project photographer is responsible for maintaining a complete photographic inventory of artifacts. In addition, we have thousands of images recording all aspects of dig life and the process of working in a small village in southeastern Turkey. Not all of these images are worthy of the internet; most are scientific records that provide a valuable documentation of our activities. Here, I have collected together thematic sets of photographs that illustrate our work.

These images are for personal use only and may not be reproduced without written permission from Prof. Matney.
